BIFM annual conference 2008
Sustainable FM - meeting the challenge Keble College, Oxford, 18th and 19th March 2008
.

A sustainable conference

The BIFM Annual Conference 2008 asks how FMs can meet the challenge of sustainability.  As organizers of the conference, we face the same challenge.  We want to meet that challenge and to inspire delegates with different ways to achieve sustainability.  We will use the conference website to keep delegates and interested parties up to date with our efforts and our successes.

Our plans include:

  • Printing all marketing and conference materials on recycled paper

  • Restricting printed marketing material to a minimum by marketing the event electronically as much as possible

  • Providing as much conference documentation as possible electronically (for instance, on data sticks) rather than in printed form

  • Providing recycling capabilities for conference attendees

  • Ensuring that the conference bag is made of sustainably sourced and/or recyclable materials

  • Requesting that exhibitors and sponsors reduce waste by minimising use of paper and packaging

  • Ensuring that signage is made from non-PVC, biodegradable materials

  • Ensuring that carpet used in the exhibition marquee is either re-usable or made from sustainable materials

  • Providing electronic information and maps for attendees on public transportation options

  • Providing shuttle options for attendees to and from the venue and drop off/park and rides

  • Asking delegates to return badge holders, unused pens etc for re-use at future events

If you have any comments on our plans or suggestions on how we can make the BIFM Annual Conference 2008 more sustainable, please email us on enquiries@bifmconference.com.  Thank you.
